The House Ethics Committee voted on Wednesday to publicly release a report on the misconduct allegations against former GOP Representative Matt Gaetz, NBC News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
In November, United States President-elect Donald Trump said he planned to nominate Gaetz for aAttorney general in his upcoming cabinet, but the former Florida representative withdrew from consideration after it became apparent he lacked support to pass his Senate confirmation hearing. Previously, the House Ethics Committee launched an investigation into Gaetz's alleged involvement in sexual misconduct and drug abuse, which further undermined his chances of securing a confirmation.
On December 6, the House voted to block the report's release and referred the matter back to the Ethics Committee.
