House said to open Fed building renovation probe

EPA/SHAWN THEW

The United States House Committee on Financial Services has launched its own probe into the renovation of the Federal Reserve's building.

According to sources familiar with the matter, House Representative from Pennsylvania's 9th district Dan Meuser is preparing a letter along with committee chair French Hill in an effort to officially table the investigation.

The report followed the White House and US President Donald Trump's raising of their alleged concerns about the use of funds planned for the renovation. It also came amid Trump's disagreement with Fed Chair Jerome Powell on what level the bank's interest rates should be.
