A military source from Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis informed Al Jazeera on Tuesday that the rebel group had attacked a vessel connected to Israel in the Red Sea.

Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) disclosed that it had received information about a new incident "approximately 50 NM [nautical miles] west of Al Hudaydah" involving an unidentified aircraft in the Red Sea near the coast of Yemen.

The Red Sea has witnessed a series of assaults by the militia on commercial cargo vessels, causing significant disruption to maritime trade since October 7.
