Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. announced on Tuesday that it launched a new flagship smartphone series, Mate 70. The series consists of four models: Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 Ultimate Design, with prices starting at 5,499 yuan ($758).
The new smartphone series includes a 50-megapixel rear camera system, which consists of a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 40-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens and which supports 4K videos with night mode, among other features. The photos taken by this device are also optimized post-capture with a XMAGE imagining system. The series is equipped with a HarmonyOS NEXT operating system, while it uses an "improved" Ark engine to boost gaming performance.
The Mate 70 series uses generative artificial intelligence and large language model (LLM) technologies for its voice assistant and image and video editing, among other things. The series is available for preorders in China and will hit stores in early December. It is not known when it will be available globally.
