Hungary will not approve nuclear energy sanctions on Russia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday that Hungary will never agree to impose sanctions on Russian nuclear energy, citing concerns for his country's energy security. He added that Hungary is interested in cooperation with Russia on nuclear energy.

"We are also extremely concerned about statements by a number of European leaders about the possible use of nuclear weapons. We hope that no one will think about this seriously," Szijjarto said. He also insisted that "all nuclear facilities must be protected," referring to the war in Ukraine.
