Major stock market indexes in Europe opened mostly flat on Friday as they slowly returned to their regular schedule following the New Year, with the newest reports on Germany's and Spain's unemployment rates and the United Kingdom's mortgage approvals coming up.
The DAX, the CAC 40, and the Euro Stoxx 50 stood flat. The FTSE 100 declined by 0.10% as Endeavour Mining PLC lost 1.34%.
The euro went up by 0.20% against the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $1.02814. Simultaneously, the pound sterling grew by 0.15% against the United States currency to change hands for $1.23969.
