Hyundai freezes US prices amid tariff uncertainty

EPA-EFE/CAROLINE BREHMAN

Hyundai Motor America launched a new initiative to shield customers from the impact of tariffs and shifting market conditions on Friday. Buyers or lessees of Hyundai vehicles through June 2, 2025, are guaranteed no increase in the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price during this period, the automaker said.

"We know consumers are uncertain about the potential for rising prices and we want to provide them with some stability in the coming months. Our MSRP commitment is just one part of our multifaceted effort to provide great vehicles to American consumers," Hyundai Motor Company's President and CEO Jose Munoz said.

The move aligns with steps taken by other automakers. Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep and Dodge, is offering employee pricing to all buyers. Ford has introduced its own promotion called "From America, For America," allowing customers to purchase 2024 and 2025 models at the employee rate. Both actions follow the US administration’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on foreign-made vehicles.
