United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with support from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), asked for access to a database managed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in a bid to track undocumented immigrants, The Washington Post reported, citing internal records and a source familiar with the matter.

ICE and DOGE requested CMS to cross-check Social Security numbers with Medicare claims to find addresses. A DOGE spokesman told the media outlet the goal is to prevent undocumented immigrants from receiving benefits meant for US citizens.
