The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said Hamas planned to fire off a larger rocket barrage at Israel on the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks, but that the group's plans were foiled, the Times of Israel reported.
The IDF "thwarted an immediate threat, following early preparations and the identification of an intention by the Hamas terror organization to fire at Israel." It did so by striking several rocket launchers and tunnels across the Gaza Strip just before 6:30 AM local time, when Hamas planned to carry out the rocket assault, according to the IDF.
Hamas managed to launch four rockets, three of which were intercepted, while the fourth landed in an open area. No injuries were reported.
