ISIS believed to be behind Istanbul attack

Turkish authorities suspect a citizen of Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan with links to the Islamic State is behind the terror attack in an Istanbul night club during the New Year's Eve, CNN Turk reported on Monday.

The incident which resulted in at least 39 deaths, many of which were foreigners, and 69 injuries occurred when a gunman entered the Reina nightclub in a central area of Istanbul and opened fire with an AK-47.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim stated it was unclear who was responsible for the attack, but President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called blamed terrorist groups saying they are trying to demoralize the Turkish people and "create chaos."

The manhunt for the perpetrator is still in progress.
