The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) said on Friday it was behind the shooting that took place at the Crocus City Hall in the Moscow area.
The group shared it was targeting a "gathering of Christians in the city and subsequently withdrew to their hideouts safely," according to a statement cited by the Amaq News Agency. Meanwhile, Ria Novosti reported, citing a photo it obtained, that the perpetrators were able to escape in a white Renault.
The attack claimed as many as 40 lives, while 100 people were injured, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) previously revealed.
