Illegal drug ads reportedly on Facebook, Instagram

Ads for illegal drugs and prescription opioids are shown to Facebook and Instagram users, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. It found "dozens" of such ads in July, despite them violating the social media's policies.

The WSJ reported in March that Facebook and Instagram's parent company Meta Platforms Inc. was under investigation in the United States for potentially profiting from the sale of illegal drugs. A spokesperson for Meta said the company rejects "hundreds of thousands of ads for violating our drug policies" and that it will continue to "invest resources and further improve our enforcement on this kind of content."
