Impossible to normalize EU-Russia relations - von der Leyen

The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday it is "impossible" to normalize relations between the European Union and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking on the air with Ukraine 24 television station, von der Leyen explained that sanctions imposed against Russia in order to "undermine" its economy make it difficult to resume normal relations with Putin.

Previously, the Russian president accused the West of neglecting basic principles of the world economy aggrevating global economic problems such as declining business activity and rising unemployment.
