Indonesia's Mount Marapi, the most active volcano in Sumatra, erupted on Sunday, the country's disaster management agency BNPB confirmed. The ash, reaching 3 kilometers above the volcano's peak, triggered an exclusion zone around the crater.
Although there have been no reported damages or casualties, authorities implemented safety measures, distributing masks to residents within proximity and advising them to stay indoors.
The country, situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is known for its high volcanic and seismic activity, hosting 127 active volcanoes.
