The European Commission announced plans on Thursday to establish the first regional task force, in Bulgaria's capital to monitor "gas and electricity needs, prices and flows, as well as infrastructure aspects," as part of the European Union's Energy Purchase Platform.
The working group will assist the country in implementing the REPowerEU action plan to reduce "dependency on Russian fossil fuel fill storage ahead of next winter and further accelerate the decarbonization of the energy sector."
Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Assen Vassilev took part in several meetings in the Commission, following yesterday's decision by Gazprom to halt the delivery of natural gas to Bulgaria. Sofia intends to organize the first ministerial meeting on 5 May and inform the neighboring countries about this task force.
