An international response is a possibility if Russia uses chemical weapons in Ukraine, Minister for the Armed Forces of United Kingdom James Heappey said on Thursday.

"Putin needs to be clear that when other countries have used chemical weapons, it has caused an international response," the minister told Sky News, describing the use of chemical weapons as "the most despicable thing."

The White House previously expressed fears that the Russian forces could reach for the use of chemical weapons over the fact that the conflict has been going on for longer than expected.
