Iran condemns US, UK airstrikes on Yemen

UNSPLASH / SINA DRAKHSHANI

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Hamaneh condemned on Friday the United States and the United Kingdom's airstrikes on Yemen, saying the attacks are "clear proof of their complicity in the crimes of the Zionist regime," according to Islamic Republic News Agency.

The US air forces carried out airstrikes yesterday on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and Saada in the northern part of the country, which Hamaneh described as "gross violations of the United Nations Charter and the rules of international law in relation to the prohibition of the use of force and respect for the territorial integrity of countries." Two weeks ago, the US and British forces carried out 12 airstrikes on Yemen's cities of Hodeidah, Sanaa and Dhamar, according to the Houthis.

Yemen's Houthi forces condemned the attacks yesterday and vowed to retaliate against the United States and confirmed that the airstrikes will not deter Yemen's support to Gaza and Lebanon.
