The Iranian foreign ministry condemned new sanctions imposed by the European Union on top officials and the Revolutionary Guards over the country's drone program.
Tehran called the punitive measures "regrettable," arguing they were based on "baseless excuses."
The sanctions, announced on Friday, target Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani as well as several organizations linked to Iran's military and drone manufacturing. The sanctions prohibit EU citizens and companies from doing business with the named individuals and entities.
