Iran executes Swedish-Iranian dissident for terrorism

Iran performed a death sentence on Swedish-Iranian dual national Habib Farajollah Chaab on Sunday morning who was determined to have led a "terrorist" Arab group responsible for killing 25 people.

According to the Iranian judiciary's Mizan Online website, authorities executed the head of the Harakat al-Nidal terrorist group for being "corrupt on earth," a major offense under local Islamic law.

Iran's security forces arrested Chaab in Turkey in 2020 before taking him to Tehran, while the Supreme Court upheld the dissident's death sentence in a ruling announced in March this year. Sweden had previously expressed concerns over Chaab's case.
