Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani (pictured right) dismissed on Monday the United States accusation regarding a drone attack on a Japanese-owned ship in the Indian Ocean, deeming it "baseless."

"The American government, with its actions and support for the regime [Israel], has brought the general hatred of the nations of the world towards itself," Kanaani added during a press conference while emphasizing that America lacks the credibility to make accusations against other parties, considering its responsibility for initiating the attacks.

According to an earlier report from The Wall Street Journal, the US Department of Defense attributed the attack on the Israel-affiliated ship to Iran.
