Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that "Iran is not responsible for actions committed by any group or individual in the region," according to IRNA.

The ambassador reaffirmed that Iran's forces are not affiliated with any group, "neither directly or indirectly," operating out of Syria, Iraq, or "any other place." He called the allegations to the contrary "baseless" and remarked that the actions committed by the United States in Syria were "unlawful."

"These actions are in flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter in the region, in particular in the Syrian Arab Republic, are evident and cannot be concealed or justified through spreading misinformation and unfounded allegations against Iran," Iravani concluded.
