Iran said to launch missiles at US bases in Qatar, Iraq

UNSPLASH / SINA DRAKHSHANI

Iran launched at least ten missiles towards the United States military bases in Qatar and one towards a base in Iraq, Axios' Global Affairs Correspondent Barak Ravid reported on Monday, citing an Israeli official.

The reported missile attack comes amid reports that US President Donald Trump's administration is preparing for Iran's retaliatory attack on its bases in the Gulf and positioning its missile launchers in anticipation of the attacks. Meanwhile, Reuters cited a witness who heard explosions in the skies above Qatar's capital city of Doha.

Qatar previously temporarily closed its airspace as the region awaited Tehran's response to the US attack on three of Iran's nuclear sites on Sunday. Iran's Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Abdolrahim Mousavi vowed his country will respond in a "proportionate manner."
