During the first round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran in Oman, Tehran proposed a three-phase agreement to limit its uranium enrichment in exchange for the removal of US sanctions, three Iranian diplomatic sources told Iran International on Thursday.
In the first stage, Iran would reduce uranium enrichment to 3.76% in return for access to financial assets frozen by the US and oil exports permission. In the next phase, Iran would permanently end high-level enrichment and allow inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency again if the United States lifted new U.S. sanctions against Iran and swayed Britain, Germany and France to refrain from activating "the so-called snapback of UN sanctions against Tehran," according to the report.
The last stage, the US would have to lift all kinds of sanctions against Iran, while Tehran would move highly enriched uranium stockpiles to a third country. The second round of talks is expected to take place on Saturday in Rome.
