Iran's Supreme Council of Cyberspace voted on Tuesday to lift its ban on WhatsApp, according to state media.

The decision comes after over two years of restrictions on the messaging platform, which were introduced following nationwide protests in 2022.

Communications Minister Sattar Hashemi called the vote "a step toward lifting internet restrictions." The ban, alongside restrictions on other platforms like Instagram, was imposed after protests over Mahsa Amini's death.
