Iran: JCPOA halt result of US miscalculations

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Tuesday in a speech, delivered at the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament, that the current halt in talks on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) happened as a result of the United States "policies and miscalculations."

The foreign minister shared that although the few remaining issues "could be addressed easily," Washington needs to "have the will and strength to conclude the lengthy talks." He went on to say that Tehran remains ready to proceed with the discussion until an agreement has been reached.

Talking about the Nuclear Weapon States, the Iranian official accused them of not following the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), as it seems that such a treaty is only binding to the Non-Nuclear Weapon States, while those in the former group continue to expand their nuclear arsenal.
