Iran: UAE ship seized over territorial waters violation

A ship belonging to the United Arab Emirates was seized by Iran, Tehran confirmed on Friday, saying that the vessel violated its territorial waters on August 17.

The crew of the ship is currently in detention in Iran, the country's Foreign Ministry confirmed, adding that the UAE apologized for the incident and noted it is prepared to compensate Iran for the incident.

Media reports added that the during the incident on Monday, two Iranian fishermen died after the UAE ship fired shots at Iranian boats.
