Israel's opposition leader Yair Lapid will travel to the United States in the coming days to discuss efforts to secure a deal to free hostages held by Hamas.
"The goal of Lapid's visit is to ensure the subject of a deal to return hostages remains present on the international public agenda," Lapid's spokesperson stated and noted he will meet White House officials, as well as lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Meanwhile, another Israeli opposition figure, leader of the Democrats party Yair Golan, blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to agree a hostage deal, claiming he passed "at least three clear-cut opportunities" to bring them home.
