Israel's Mossad head, David Barnea (pictured center), along with officials from Shin Bet and the military, are set to engage in negotiations in Cairo tonight, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday.

The delegation, with an expanded mandate, hinted at increased momentum in the peace talks, though the exact nature of this expanded mandate remains undisclosed.

Despite previous unsuccessful talks, including those last week and in preceding months, Israel on Sunday agreed to participate in ceasefire discussions aiming to broker peace between Israel and Hamas.
