The Israeli and Egyptian armies exchanged fire on Monday at the Rafah crossing, several media in Hebrew and Arabic languages reported.
As per the reports, the uncommon and unexpected incident has not left any casualties so far.
The Israeli Channel 13 said the height of tensions is followed by an investigation by the IDF into the details of the incident, which may have "significant political consequences."
