The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Thursday that the 215th Fire Brigade of the 162nd Division attacked the house of Ismail Haniyeh (pictured), chairman of the Hamas political bureau, who currently lives in Qatar.
The attack occurred overnight, and according to the Israeli army, Haniyeh's house has served "as a terrorist infrastructure and, among other things, as a meeting place for senior members of the organization." Hamas has previously claimed the IDF attack on two residences belonging to Haniyeh and his family. However, this is the first attack confirmed by Israel.
Moreover, also during the overnight ground operations, the army reportedly seized "a variety of weapons, including explosive belts, barrel bombs, RPG missiles, anti-tank missiles and intelligence documents" at various locations.
