The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday confirmed that it killed Al Jazeera journalist Hossam Shabat in an airstrike in Gaza, claiming he was Hamas' "sniper."
"He carried out all of his actions under the cover of an @AlJazeera journalist. Yesterday, he was eliminated by the IDF. Don't let the press vest confuse you, Hossam was a terrorist," the military said in a post on X.
In October last year, the IDF said it disclosed intelligence information allegedly proving that six Al Jazeera journalists in the Gaza Strip, including Shabat, were Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives.
