Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesperson Omer Dostri shared on Thursday that the release of Palestinian prisoners has been halted.

Dostri detailed in a statement that the order came from Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, over the chaotic environment that followed the latest release of Israeli prisoners by Hamas. Palestinian prisoners won't be handed over "until the safe release of our hostages in the future releases is guaranteed," Dostri stressed, adding that Israel demands "the mediators to achieve this."

Earlier, the Israeli Defense Forces-operated radio Galei Tzahal reported, citing a security source, that the buses with Palestinian detainees headed back to the Ofer Prison.
