The cabinet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voted unanimously to dismiss Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar (pictured), the head of its internal security service, according to the Times of Israel.
Bar's final day in the role is set for April 10, marking the first time in the nation's history that a Shin Bet chief has been dismissed, though the date could be earlier if the ministers approve a permanent replacement, according to Netanyahu's office.
Bar did not attend, though he stated in a letter that his firing is "entirely tainted by conflicts of interest," calling it a "fundamentally invalid" attempt to undermine his agency.
