Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet said in a joint statement on Friday that they eliminated a senior member of the political bureau of Hamas, Ezz Al-Din Kasab, in the Khan Younis area in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli military, Kasab was the head of the national relations in the organization and was responsible for strategic and military relations with other factions in the Gaza Strip. IDF said that he was eliminated in an airstrike, which was "guided by precise intelligence from the Intelligence Directorate, Southern Command and Shin Bet." The joint statement also claimed that Kasab was "one of the last senior members of Hamas's political bureau to remain alive in the Gaza Strip."
Earlier today, Hamas reportedly claimed that the recent proposals for a potential ceasefire in the Gaza Strip brought up by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators are not in line with Palestinians' best interests.
