The Israeli military carried out an airstrike on southern Beirut on Friday in the first attack on the Lebanese capital since the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire came into force on November 27 last year.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they targeted buildings in Beirut's Dahieh neighborhood, claiming they are used to store Hezbollah drones. It repeated its allegation that Hezbollah shot rockets into northern Israel earlier in the day, stating it "constitutes a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and a direct threat to the citizens of the State of Israel," adding that the Lebanese government bears responsibility for upholding the ceasefire.
