The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported Friday that its Air Force targeted infrastructure used for smuggling weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The strikes occurred at the Janta Crossing, located along the Syrian-Lebanese border. According to the IDF, Hezbollah relies on civilian infrastructure to support its alleged extremist activities and weapons smuggling operations.
The IDF claims that Hezbollah's Unit 4400 is responsible for coordinating these smuggling efforts with support from Iran and allied groups, stressing that it has targeted this unit throughout the conflict, reportedly eliminating its commander, Muhammad Ja'far Qasir, in Beirut and his successor, Ali Hassan Gharib, in Damascus. The IDF says other key figures from the unit were also neutralized.
"The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel in accordance with the understandings in the ceasefire agreement," the IDF noted.
