Israeli Iron Dome air defense system intercepted missiles that were fired from Gaza over southern Israel, The Times of Israel reported on Friday. Sirens reportedly sounded in Bat Yam, Rishon Lezion and Holon.
In the continuation of today's operation that resulted in the death of Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Tayseer al-Jabari, the Israeli military revealed later that it also destroyed two PIJ weapons depots and a "rocket launching position."
"Israel carried out a precise counter-terror operation against an immediate threat... Islamic Jihad is an Iranian proxy that wants to destroy the State of Israel and kill innocent Israelis. The head of Islamic Jihad is in Tehran as we speak," Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said, according to his international spokesperson Keren Hajioff.
