Israel is reportedly planning to extend its military operation against the Palestinian militant group Hamas into the next year, focusing on the objective of killing three key Hamas leaders, including the Gaza chief, Yahya Sinwar (pictured), The Financial Times reported on Friday citing sources.
According to people familiar with the matter, Israel's top priority is also to kill Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing Al-Qassam Brigades, and Marwan Issa, the deputy commander-in-chief of the Brigades.
People with knowledge of the Israeli military plans have indicated that the country is still far from reaching its objectives, which also include achieving a "decisive" victory over Hamas' 24 battalions, dismantling its underground tunnel network, and eliminating its "governing capability in Gaza."
