Israel will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and will not participate in its investigation of alleged Israeli war crimes committed in Gaza, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Ben-Dor told RIA Novosti on Monday.
"We will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court because we protect the rights of our citizens and fight terrorism," the official said. He further stressed that Israel has no confidence in this court because its "agenda is known in advance."
Earlier, the Prosecutor of the ICC Karim Ahmad Khan said that South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti requested the court to investigate possible war crimes in Palestinian territories and confirmed that the investigation has already started and will cover all possible crimes committed since June 13, 2014, up to the present time.
