Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning remarked on Tuesday that the United States has been "hyping up the 'China threat' rhetoric year after year," after being asked to share Beijing's thoughts on US President Joe Biden signing the National Defense Authorization Act for 2025, which carries negative text about China.

"[Washington has been] clamoring for military support for Taiwan, abusing national power to suppress China's scientific, technological, and economic development, restricting China-US economic, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, and harming China's sovereignty, security, and development interests," the spokesperson stated at a press briefing, adding that Beijing is not satisfied with and "firmly opposed to" this.

She called on the US to leave its "Cold War mentality" behind and to look at the relationship between the two "objectively and rationally."
