Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated on Monday that Israeli forces targeted two senior Hamas leaders in the central Gaza Strip on the night between Saturday and Sunday.
The IDF and Israel Security Agency (ISA) conducted a joint military operation, with IDF fighter jets striking an "underground compound" in the Nuseirat area. The compound was used by Marwan Issa, Hamas' third-in-command and deputy head of their military wing and Aziz Abu Tama'a, formerly the commander of the Central Camps Brigade. "And alongside them in the tunnel were other terrorists," Hagari added.
Hagari went on to say that due to the "underground nature" of the compound, the IDF is still assessing the results of the strike. He emphasized that according to the intelligence they gathered before the attack, there were no Israeli hostages in the area.
