Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that if Hamas is discovered intercepting aid shipments destined for Palestinian civilians in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian supplies through the Rafah crossing "will be halted."
"These are food and medicines that have been physically checked and inspected by Israeli security personnel and are delivered via Egypt. The shipments are designed for the civilian population; should it become clear that they have been taken by Hamas, they will be halted," the statement read. The assistance is not coming directly from Israel but rather "from international sources," the document added.
Previously, an unnamed United States official told US media that Israel would allow as many as 100 trucks to arrive daily in the enclave as the total number of trucks carrying aid that reached the enclave rose to 118.
