Israel to reportedly reject Hamas' plan for ceasefire

Israel will likely reject Hamas' response to the proposed hostage deal framework mediated by Qatar and Egypt which included the militant group's request for three 45-day ceasefire periods with Israel, an Israeli official told Axios correspondent Barak Ravid on Wednesday.

According to the source, Israel then expects Qatar and Egypt to pressure Hamas to agree to a more "reasonable" framework, the journalist said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously met with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken who is currently visiting Israel. Namely, Blinken expressed Washington's concern about a potential expansion of military operations in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
