Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Wednesday that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will convene an emergency session on Monday, December 30, to address recent Houthi attacks from Yemen, according to The Times of Israel.
On Tuesday, Saar had urged US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who currently presides over the UNSC, to call the meeting to condemn the strikes and Iran's support for the Houthis. He emphasized that the rebel group's actions violate international law and endanger global peace.
Overnight, Israel intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, marking the fourth such attack in a week. Sirens warned of potential debris that caused injuries to nine people who were rushing to find shelters.
