Israeli UN envoy to end tenure

Gilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations (pictured) will end his term this summer, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Office announced on Friday.

"Ambassador Erdan represented Israel with respect, determination and strength, and I thank him for that," Netanyahu says in a statement. According to a statement, Erdan was offered the position of ambassador to the United States, but he declined the position due to "family considerations" and opted to return to Israel.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Netanyahu has decided not to extend the tenure of Michael Herzog, the current ambassador of Israel to Washington.
