The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday that Israel has come under fire from Iranian rockets, marking the start of the reported missile assault widely covered by the media.
"A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel," the military posted on Telegram. "The IDF is doing and will do everything necessary to protect the civilians of the State of Israel. The IDF is fully prepared for both defense and offense at peak readiness."
Air raid sirens sounded throughout the nation. Israelis received instructions on their mobile phones and through national television to enter designated protected spaces. The attack comes in the aftermath of Israel's "limited" ground operation in southern Lebanon.
