Turkish authorities have confirmed the Istanbul attacker is Iakhe Mashrapov, a 28-year old citizen from Kyrgystan, TRT World reported on Tuesday.
The attacker opened fire in a nightclub in Istanbul on New Year’s night, killing 39 people, and ran away. The police are still looking for the suspect.
On Monday, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the massacre and Turkish authorities believed the gunman had fought in Syria for the organization.
