Annual inflation in Italy stood at 1.1% in August, Istat confirmed in its second report on Monday. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.2%, also unchanged from the preliminary estimate.
The fall in inflation compared to July's annual figure of 1.3% was mainly attributed to the further drop in non-regulated energy products, which plunged by 8.6% year-on-year, and durable goods, whose prices decreased by 1.8%. Core inflation, excluding food and energy, was unchanged from July at 1.9%.
