Annual inflation in Italy was confirmed at 2% in April, according to the second report by Istat released on Friday. The monthly rise in the consumer price index (CPI) came in at 0.1%, down from the preliminary report's 0.2%.
The rise from March, when inflation was measured at 1.9%, was mainly driven by a jump in the prices of regulated energy products, from 27.2% in March to 31.7% in April. Core inflation, excluding energy and fresh food, stood at 2.1% on a yearly basis.
