The Italian Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded an annual increase of 5.3% in September compared with the same month a year earlier, as per preliminary data from Italy's statistical office, Istat, released on Friday. On a monthly basis, the figure came at 0.2%.
The country's core inflation (all items excluding energy and unprocessed food) rose 4.6% in the same month. Meanwhile, according to the preliminary estimates, the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HICP) increased by 1.7% on a monthly basis and by 5.7% on an annual basis.
Finally, the report noted that the slowdown in the annual inflation rate was due to falls in the prices of unprocessed food, processed food, and durable goods.
